Hi, I'm Natalie. I'm a Web Developer based in London.

I have experience building full-stack applications and a passion for front-end development and design.

Before taking the plunge and pursuing a career change, I worked in a fast-paced and challenging industry; Fashion. I worked closely with Designers and Buyers to bring life to creative visions, whilst also managing multiple stakeholders. Now, I would love to join an innovative company that develops well designed applications, where I could further develop my skills and understanding of coding.

Software Engineering Immersive Bootcamp

After discovering coding in 2019, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career as a Developer and decided to enrol on the SEI bootcamp at General Assembly. I really enjoyed my time at GA as it allowed me to collaborate with talented course mates on challenging projects.

A typical day-to-day started with morning stand-up, followed by instructor-led remote code-along sessions and pair coding labs, which has prepared me to work in an Agile environment. At the end of each module, we completed a project using the technologies we had just learned.

Space Invaders game

Space Invaders

HTML5 | CSS3 | JavaScript(ES6)

For this 9 day solo project, I chose to make the classic arcade game, Space Invaders. Building this allowed me to get to grips with writing functions in vanilla JavaScript. One of the biggest challenges of this project was the movement of the aliens within the grid. This project really helped me learn how to plan a project and break down larger problems.

A General Assembly of Films

A General Assembly of Films

The brief was to build a React app that consumes a public API in 2 days. I chose to pair code this project with one of my coursemates, this allowed us to talk through the problems we encountered whilst building functionality such as the search bar and pagination on the index page.

The Beans

The Beans

React | Node.js | Express | MongoDB | Mongoose | React-Bootstrap | Sass

For this 9 day group project, we were challenged to build a full-stack MERN app so we built an e-commerce webiste; The Beans. We used Trello for project manangement and each built specific features. One of the features I built was the basket using a RESTful framework in Node.js/MongoDB and the front-end was built with React, React-Bootstrap and Sass.

Revive

In this 8 day project, I built an app that was inspired by Freecycle. Users could post unwanted items and receive messages from members who expressed an interest in the item. I wanted to challenge myself by working solo to build a RESTful API using a relational database.
